چکیده

Please direct correpsondence to Yu Yang at [email protected]. With the advent of column materials that can be used effectively at temperatures well over 100 °C, high temperature liquid chromatography (HTLC) separations have gained more attention in the last few years. Advantages of HTLC include fast analysis time, better selectivity, improved column efficiency, and minimization of the use of organic solvents involved in the mobile phase. With the rapid heat transfer of packed capillary and open tubular columns, the use of temperature programming can supplement the use of gradient elution. Separation using high-temperature water as the sole eluent has shown a great potential as an alternative reversed-phase LC technique with the effect of having a “greener” mobile phase system. In this paper, silica-based, metal oxide-based, polymer, monolithic, and temperatureresponsive stationary phases have been reviewed. A recently developed high performance LC chip and other noteworthy aspects of HTLC also have been included in this review.

Optimizing Protein Separations with Agilent Weak Cation-Exchange Columns

Columns containing weak cation-exchange stationary phases offer a degree of versatility when used for separation of positively charged proteins. Of particular interest, is the difference in selectivity that can be obtained by adjusting the pH of the mobile phase eluent. We explore the parameters of interest and how these can be changed to optimize the resolution of the compounds of interest usi...

Polar stationary phases for capillary electrochromatography.

This review article summarizes the variety of polar stationary phases that have been employed for capillary electrochromatographic separations. Compared with reversed-phase stationary phases, the polar alternatives provide a completely different retention selectivity towards polar and charged analytes. Different types of polar stationary phases are reviewed, including the possible retention mec...
